Hi guys, here’e a quick updates of what’s going on our shop:

• Slight modification of our front page
• Standardize our theme layout page, scan-able layout with thumbnails.
• Our about page is now up ツ
• We’re busy baking our next theme. Detail will follow, stay tuned!

Slight Modification of Our Front PageBack to Top

We’ve been modifying and optimizing themebaker front page for a while now. Just recently we’ve finally launched it. Noticeable changes would be extra padding here and there, so there’s more room to breath and the footer area. We are also trying to squash the above the fold myth.

Above the fold is a graphic design term that refers to important content being on the upper half of the front page of a newspaper.

More can be read here. Therefore, instead of worrying that users won’t scroll down to read the content ‘below the fold’, we’d like to try a different approach. Starting by revamping our previous layout into what you see below. Here’s our old and revised main page, side by side.

• Scannability is our focal point, so that users will know exactly what the page is all about, even with a quick glance.
• Studies had debunked ‘above the fold’ myth. Therefore, we’re emphasizing on the footer on this layout. Additional blog post and twitter post increased from 3 to 5.
• Optimization of 16-column on the footer, in 5:1:5:1:4 ratio resulting in roomy and less cluttered layout.

Standardization of Theme Layout PageBack to Top

Instead of cramming everything side by side like previous layout (full screen shot of theme on the left, description on the right), we ordered the description one by one, with the thumbnail for each description on the left side. We also threw in few CSS3 text-shadow effect, to spruce up the look of the layout. This also to depict our direction as theme shop that adapt new technologies.
