Fresh : Remaking. Part 1 1 comments

themebaker version 3Fresh is a codename for themebaker main page, and 2 months after launched we have decided to revamp it. Note that we did it before but this time it’s considered major revamp. There are few issues that we hope to tackle on this revamp.

The objective of the revamp :

  • To clearly define the navigation, content, footer and whatnot (visual hierarchy)
  • Every element should be clearly defined (buttons should looks like one, input etc.)
  • To make users stays longer on the page, reducing the bouncing rate

Our primary focus was first, themebaker’s front page. The first page where the user land on, so it must be clear and self-defining. Everything have to be in orderly manner. Second, blog because this is where we channeled our thought and ideas, so it’s an important medium for us to deliver our message.

We take the revamp very seriously because we want to deliver the content and experience to the user. Therefore, we’ve done a case study on numbers of successful WordPress theme shop. Among things that we’ve studied was the Information Architecture (IA).

Below are the comparisons of IA of aforementioned shop :

One(of many) thing that they share in common was :

Focusing on the core of the website itself – the theme showcase. Theme thumbnails are placed on the main part.

With that, we’ve derived our own layout. Here’s our IA :
